The Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney is a brain tumour treatment centre, one of few in Australia.

The neurosurgery ward, Ward 7B, made Margaret a member of the family, having seen her smile in November 2000, July 2001 and August-September 2001, for a total of near 70 days. The nurses include a high proportion of graduates and with post-graduate qualifications (Certificate and Master of Neuroscience Nursing).

In common with other wards in the great public teaching hospitals, the ward is severely stretched for resources.

We agree with the ward staff that the key need is equipment for the comfort of patients and the efficiency of nursing care.
