Kyarumba.org is the initiative of the Bwimaniro Women's Club. We are a group of women from the Ugandan village of Kyarumba, and we want to make a difference in the lives of our girls!
Our village is a very special place with many great traditions. However, some of our traditions have limited the education and opportunities for girls. We would like to tell you about our world, our life, and the daily challenges girls and young women face here.
The literacy levels of women in Kyarumba subcounty are alarmingly low: out of a population of 25,000 people, Kyarumba has managed to produce very few female university graduates. Since 1987, only 11 women from our village have received university degrees. A standardised study is being conducted to establish the statistics of the literacy rates in Kyarumba.
We would also like to inform you about our actions and projects, our activities and our attempts to enable our girls to go to school, pursue their educational goals and their dreams in life.
We are therefore more than happy to welcome you to our site and have you as a guest! This site will give you plenty of information on:
