Our Mission Statement
The International Network of Youth Against Landmines is designed to establish a permanent link of communication between concerned youths worldwide, based on the spirit of peace, friendship and sharing.
Our aims
In doing so, we aim to:
• share and learn from each other's experiences, strengths, weaknesses, interests, concerns and problems;
• effectively achieve positive and more efficient outcomes on any scenario through concerted and united efforts with each other, rather than acting alone;
• educate the youth of the world about the global problem of landmines by providing accessible information on landmines;
• encourage youth to contribute to ending the production, selling and planting of landmines.
Our model
INYAL is not an organisation with a formal chain of command. Instead, it represents an international network of youth all working towards the same goal – the destruction of all remaining landmines and the provision of assistance to landmine victims. With this model, we can begin looking beyond our own organizations and ourselves when we are in need of advice, support or inspiration.
Our beliefs
We are not alone in believing that youth are important in the global fight against landmines.
‘All too often adults refer to young people as the “leaders of tomorrow”. From my experiences with amazing kids all over the world, many of them are not waiting for “tomorrow” – they are already leaders today. And we have the great fortune to have many of these young leaders involved in the global effort to eradicate landmines. It is both a joy and a privilege to know and work with many of them’.
– Jody Williams; Peacemaker, Co-founder and Co-ordinator of the ICBL.
Our network
Our network is rapidly growing in size and the website of each organisation can be on the Our Members page. To visit the website of our member groups, simply click on the logo provided. Alternatively, groups and individuals can be contacted by clicking on their email addresses, which are featured below their names.
Our future
We are all very much looking forward to the Youth Symposium in Nairobi in November this year; see the Youth Symposium Page for more information. Working together to find solutions to end the threat of this indiscriminate and merciless weapon of war is easily the best way forward.
We are the future of the anti-landmine movement. Let’s join together and make this future a great one.
