Early contributions as of November 2004
‘Greeting everyone and so good to hear that youth around the world and particularly in Australia are contributing their time, talents, and energies to understanding and combating the humanitarian crisis of landmines. As you know the Nairobi Conference will be a major impact on the assessment of global Mine Action. I am particularly excited to know of the future implications related to socio-economic reintegration of mine survivors. I hope to be a valuable part of the Survivor Summit and assist in allowing survivors voices be heard on the highest levels of international decision making. Best luck to all’.

Hello everybody! I’d like to welcome everybody to INYAL. My name is Yemi Adebanjo. I am from Nigeria and just recently graduated from the prestigious Lagos State University. I have been involved in various humanitarian activities in the last five years. For example, I founded the All Nigeria United Nations Students and Youths Association (ANUNSA) at the Lagos State University. ANUNSA addresses health, environment, peace-building, crime prevention, poverty eradication and governance. I also work with the youth wing of the United Nations as a volunteer, promoting its humanitarian ideals.
My passion for the promotion of awareness of the problems of landmines initiated my desire to become a part of INYAL. I have always enjoyed contributing my services to humanity and I know that INYAL will be another rewarding experience.
I hope to see INYAL grow into a very big international organization with a major presence in all countries worldwide. I hope to see a time when governments will collaborate with INYAL to fight the global problem of landmines. Finally, I hope to see INYAL organizing major international conferences and symposia to bring youths together on a common platform for the purpose of discussing landmines issues and devising strategies to campaign against landmines. I believe that INYAL should aim to be adopted as a part of the United Nations youth wing, partnering with the UN in the campaign against landmines.
I wish INYAL the very best of luck.
– Yemi Adebanjo from Nigeria
