Lake Grace Western Australia
A hospital museum the source also of mosaics
We spent two nights in a comfortable bed and breakfast in Lake Grace while fierce wind, cold and spattering rain roiled around outside.
Here was the view from the bathroom window over a 40 acre block, kept by the couple running the B&B, having earlier farmed a wider wheat property.
Breakfasts were of gourmet quality; our hosts also run a business called Sophisticake.
Lake Grace was itself interesting, exemplifying rural arts activities and community projects we were to find variously in Western Australia.
An Australian Inland Mission hospital ran for half a century in Lake Grace and we visited what is now an interesting museum adjacent to the modern public hospital.
Some of these devices looked a little threatening
There are many broken tiles from parts of this old hospital and these are being used for community mosaics around the new hospital.
